Research internship, 2026
- 2026Ion chromatography for aquaculture water
Portfolio, 2026. Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Engineeringcleanerwater.
I'm Sivping, a fifth-year chemical engineering student at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia. I test water, beer and processes, and I want to build the ones that waste less.

I am a fifth-year chemical engineering student at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, with a solid grounding in process design and thermodynamics and hands-on experience in laboratory work, data analysis and safety procedures.
In 2026 I assessed major inorganic ions in aquaculture water by ion chromatography as a researcher intern, and in 2025 I ran physicochemical quality tests on beer at Inter-Mattrid Beverage. In the ITC laboratories I work with distillation columns, heat exchangers and pH meters.
I am a collaborative problem-solver who communicates clearly, and I want to apply chemical engineering to practical problems in the energy and chemical industries and to sustainable, intelligent product design.

Five roles since 2023, from tutoring to a research internship in ion chromatography.
I assessed the major inorganic ions in fish-farm water, fluoride, chloride, nitrite, bromide, nitrate, phosphate and sulfate, in one injection, and reported what they meant for water quality.
Density, pH, bitterness and colour, batch after batch. The numbers barely moved, which is the point: quality is boring when it works.
Analytical chemistry, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics and physical chemistry, on distillation columns, heat exchangers and pH meters.
Scheduling, attendance and data entry, and the hundred small conversations with students, parents and staff that keep a timetable honest.
Where I learned to explain one thing five ways, and to be the adult in the room.
Samples came from fish ponds. I ran them through the ion chromatograph, calibrated the standards and read the peaks for nitrite and nitrate, the two that tell you when a pond is in trouble.
The work was less about the instrument than about the discipline around it: labelling, blanks, calibration curves, and writing down what I actually saw.
The method was ordinary and that was the point: sampling at the ponds, calibration against standards, the run itself, then a report someone could act on.
Nitrite and nitrate climb before fish show stress. Reading them early is what keeps a pond alive.
Six things I can do, each with the role it came from. The full list sits below; three segments means daily and confident, two means working knowledge.
